Well we are starting to see things growing now. The foundations are in place, the drainage is a bit more sorted, and we have a number of holes in the walls to check the levels for the new joists which arrive on Monday.

Beginning of week 3

This is the view from the bathroom window after one day this week. I suspect it will look very different by Friday. The builders are talking about starting to break into the house (the new kitchen bit) within a week!!! so by this time next week the dust may well start in earnest. The builders have been brilliant so far with very little dust making it inside.

Progress report Week 1
Last Friday I was looking forwards to the demolition of the garage the following day. Since then we have lost a garage, lost an outside cupboard, gained foundations for most of the outline of the extension and had 3 different skips on varying bits of the front garden!!! It's been a good week with fantastic weather so we've been very grateful for that.

Day 1. The Builders arrive!!!!
Where a garage once stood for 70 years!!
A seriously heavy skip ... we even added the heavy wooden posts to this before it was collected.
Here is my pile of metal and plastic .. to go to the tip!
A very nice Skip man. So I gave him the lead flashing as a tip!
I couldn't resist this one. My car in the back garden. Never to be repeated! EVER!!!
The builder arrives, impressed with the removed garage and he is pleased to tell us that we wont need to take down Eddie's wall.
An hour later a seriously large skip arrived! Digging starts tomorrow!!!! Scary!!

And so it begins!!!!!
The extension we've been muttering about for about 8 1/2 years is really going to happen. Tomorrow friends are helping us remove the garage, the skip has already arrived for that, and then Monday the builders will arrive. It's been a mythical extension for so long I'm not sure I can really believe it is going to happen.
The builders are estimating 14 weeks from now (unless the loft conversion happens!) so that means that if everything goes to plan we should have a very different looking house with loads more space by the end of June!!!!!!
There will be lots of photos and lots of skips to follow......watch this space.
